Roseville has a rich history, and continues to move toward the future while preserving its roots. Located in Placer County, this progressive city lies along the eastern edge of the Sacramento Valley at the bottom of the Sierra Nevada foothills. Residents here enjoy hot summers and mild winters and are in close proximity to Sacramento, the state capital. The town was established by miners who were disappointed by the famed Gold Rush, and has grown into an independent city with over 104,000 residents as of January 1, 2006. Roseville is a charter city operating under a City Manager-Council form of government and was incorporated on April 10, 1909.
