Rocklin, CA Area Guide

The beautiful city of Rocklin can be found in Placer County, California.  Rocklin is brimming with life and offers something for every lifestyle and interest type.  Primarily a residential community north of Sacramento, Rocklin is a wonderful place to raise your family.  Rocklin is close to Roseville, Loomis, and Lincoln, and as of the 2009 census, Rocklin had a population of 54,754 people.  To learn more about the wonders of Rocklin, please visit the city’s official website.

History

In 1743, Rocklin was established by Joel Parker Whitney as Spring Valley Ranch.  Over years this ranch grew into 25 miles of crushed stone roads, 12 granite bridges, stables, barns, and housing for 200 ranch hands and their families.  This was all constructed on 30,000 acres that would soon become Rocklin.  By 1893, Rocklin officially became incorporated.  After the last Whitney family member died in 1926, the ranch began to deteriorate. The planned communities of Stanford Ranch and Whitney Oaks now occupy much of the former Spring Valley Ranch. As Rocklin evolved, the City saved many of the original granite bridges used to cross creeks on the Spring Valley Ranch, and the City’s Recreation Commission designed parks to include the bridges.
